Cold hands, warm heart

Coach Pete

Prospect Park GTS
It was cold Saturday morning (felt like 17 degrees they said… I said suck it up, we’re from New England). Neverthless we made it through a warm up 10 minutes of running and then an additional 30-40 minutes of running then stretches, all under the guidance of Coach Pete.
Jamie, the guy with the dog above, gave us a “mission moment” before the workout. He told a story about his grandmother who, while dying from cancer last year told him she would donate $1,000 dollars to his Team in Training campaign. But then only $300 showed up in his account. Turned out his mother, who controlled his grandmother’s finances made the change; his mother told him “No f**king way you’re taking $1,000 of your grandmothers money.” Jamie agreed and continued on his training. A couple months later, after his grandmother passed away, Jamie and his mother decided to donate the remaining $700 to the staff at the care facility where she had spent her last months. And then, a couple days later, the whole $700 showed up in his account from the staff at the care facility! So, Saturday, we ran for Jamie’s grandmother and those generous people who took care of her during her illness. Inspiration abounds.

A little more than three weeks ago we all attended the Team in Training kickoff event. We took some team photos.
This photo in profile should be particularly illuminating come May.
